Important Update
Important Update Regarding our Church
This is a copy of the speech given by our Board of Directors on April 15, 2026
Good evening, church family.
We would like to take a few moments tonight to address a situation that many of you are already aware of.
● On Saturday evening, a letter was sent via text message to many individuals who call Calvary Chapel Lake Norman home.
● What we initially believed to be a private family matter—one that could be resolved between Pastor Mike and Isaiah—has grown into something much larger and has impacted the entire congregation. For this, we grieve.
● The church board was asked to review the conflict and speak with all parties involved. We did so thoroughly. After four and a half days of discussion, prayer, studying Scripture, and seeking God’s guidance, we reached a decision regarding the matter.
● After sharing our findings with both individuals involved, we believed the issue would be resolved, especially as both parties expressed a desire for restoration and repentance.
● Pastor Sandy Adams, lead pastor for the Deep South Regional Oversight Team of the Calvary Chapel Association, was consulted. He oversees Western North Carolina and the broader Deep South region. After reviewing the situation, he affirmed that the board conducted a thorough and appropriate investigation.
● Shortly afterward, Isaiah participated in a larger meeting that included the board, his family, and other church leaders. By the conclusion of that meeting, there was unanimous agreement that the decisions made up to that point were correct.
● Again, we believed the matter had been resolved, as both parties continued to express a desire for restoration and repentance.
● However, since that meeting, letters, text messages, and phone calls have been circulated. For the confusion and distress this has caused, we sincerely apologize.
● What began as a disagreement between a father and a son has now escalated into something far more serious.
● Unfortunately, this has turned into a smear campaign against our Pastor and our church family. This campaign has included the weaponizing of Scripture to manipulate opinions and promote a misrepresentation of character.
● The board has listened carefully to all parties, examined every accusation, and sought counsel from external senior pastors. We remain committed to standing firm in protecting our church family.
● With that said, we would like to offer an opportunity for further conversation. Our contact information will be provided, and we are available to meet one-on-one with individuals or families.
● Because we have spoken extensively with all involved and have documented our findings, we are prepared to help clarify any questions or fill in any gaps.
● Our hope is that, with all the information available, each of you will seek the Lord in prayer, study His Word, and allow the truth to be revealed.
In Christ,
The Leadership of Calvary Chapel Lake Norman
